Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the advantages of family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. On the football field, he competed along with three brothers in Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-American teams. A year later, in 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most effective offensive lineman of the national by Outland as well as Lombardi. Outland Awards. Oklahoma had two National Championships during his three-year tenure as the starter. In 1975, he was awarded his third scholarship and was awarded the title of the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. He moved to Tampa following his college years, playing as a member of the Buccaneers for 9 years and was three-time all-pro. His career in business began. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked for these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when playing in the college football league. The year 1975 was the first time he commanded the team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
